Ice Cream in Chicago

Summer is the perfect excuse to eat ice cream, especially if you live up north! Soon, the warm, longer days of summer will have turned into chilly winter days. Celebrate long nights and sunny days by eating everyone’s favorite summer treat! Sure, you could hit up the local grocery store for a pint, but this year, we are challenging you to think local! Here are some of our local Chicago ice cream suggestions:

ü  Zarlengo’s Italian Ice. Featuring Italian ice, gelato, and “novelties,” Zarlengo’s serves up Italian favorites. Not limited to ice cream, their menu offers shakes, malts, floats and slushies!

ü  Duff’s Dogs. Duff’s is pretty much a Chicago tradition! Not limited to ice cream, Duff’s offers a menu full of all-American favorites from burgers and hot dogs, to deliciously fried tater tots.  Sundae’s are super cheap and come with whipped cream and a cherry on top!

ü  Scooter’s Frozen Custard. Locally owned and locally sourced, Scooters is not to be missed! Our favorites are their “concretes” which consists of custard with loads of toppings and fill-ins churned so hard you can hold them upside down and they will stay together! Yum!

ü  The Brown Ice Cream Parlor. This old-fashioned ice cream parlor makes their own ice cream and root beer, which makes their root beer float the best in the Midwest! Check out their specialty Sundays or an ice creamachino.
